Roald Amundsen’s desk drawer provide us with a little glimpse into his life. Here we find an advertisement from Hertz car rental, a note with the name “Amundsen” written in Japanese, Don Pedro Christophersen’s business card and a small piece of paper with an address in Oslo. Who did he know there? In the middle of the drawer, next to the Remington Bullets box, is a recipe for an alcoholic drink:

Boil 1 litre of water with a tablespoon of sugar. Filter the result and leave it to cool. Add 12 drops of caraway oil to 1 litre of spirit. Combine the sugared water and spirit and add half a bottle of Sherry. Bottle.
