Hall

In the hall are objects from several expeditions and doorways leading to various rooms. Under the stairs is a sledge from the Fram expedition, and on the wall hang a pair of snow shoes used during the Norge expedition by Lincoln Ellsworth.

Ground floor doorways lead into the kitchen, the blue room, the living room, the vestibule and the toilet. Installed in the toilet door is a glass window with a picture of Manni, a Netsilik Inuit who joined the crew during the Gjøa expedition through the Northwest Passage.

At the top of the stairs is Amundsen’s travel trunk, and on the ceiling is a glass pane decorated with a painted photograph of the Gjøa at the start of the expedition. Also up here are doorways to the children’s room and the study.
